C B Dennis

The Trust was founded by C.B. 'Brian' Dennis in 1990. Brian had a lifelong interest in beekeeping, which started around 1930 when he joined Kodak as an analytical chemist. His long association with the British Beekeepers Asociation (BBKA) started at this time and he served as a member of their Executive in the 1950s and 60s and again in the late 70s. He represented the BBKA on the Ministry of Agriculture's Bee Disease Advisory Committee and on the British Standards Institute Committee. His contribution to British Beekeeping, particularly in the field of disease, was recognised in 1984 when he was made an Honorary Member of the BBKA.

Brian was a founder member of Bee Disease Insurance in the 1930s, was secretary for the next 50 years and their delegate to the BBKA Annual Delegates Meeting for most of this period. His knowledge of bee diseases made him a valuable member of the BBKA Research and Diseases Committee, where he served from the 1950s until his death in 1995.
